Answers to feet problems

Neuropathy

Imagine the nerves in your body to be a bit like an electric table lamp.

Plug and electricity ………………. Brain

Wire/cable ………………………. Nerves travelling all round body

Light ……………………………. Your Feet

If you were to take a pair of scissors and make a small cut in the wire the light may continue to work normally.

If the cut was half way through the wire the lamp may not work or flash intermittently.

If you cut all the way through the way the light will not work.

When the sugar levels in our body become too high, to start with the effect can go unnoticed but with the continued eating away at the nerves the message from our brain to our feet can become reduced, slowed or eventually will completely stop in a similar way as described with the electric lamp.

If there is no message from the brain the foot can become damaged, cut, burnt etc and it would not hurt or be painful.

Our muscles are also controlled and stimulated by the nerves in our body, enabling us to have the strength to move and walk. When the nerves have been damaged by the excessive sugar in our bodies the muscles may also not receive messages to tell them to move and contract and things like walking can become affected and laboured
